Immediate Emergency Care Advanced Provider (IEC) – Trauma Responder Course.

The IEC package is aimed at all organisations involved in pre-hospital care within the UK. It covers all aspects of the trauma training requirements you will need to operate both in the UK and in Hostile Environments, with hospital placements available to suitable graduates and clinical governance to ensure you are providing the best possible care to the public you are serving.

The IEC – Advanced course is the most advanced, up to date, evidence based trauma course currently available in the UK for non-health care professionals. It covers all of the skills recently proposed by the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care, the Chief Fire Officers Association and Association of Chief Police Officers at last years National Fire & Rescue Trauma conference and National Police trauma conference respectively. As well as the above the course is based on guidelines produced by the Faculty of Trauma & Resuscitation, the Resuscitation Council UK, the Royal College of Anaesthetists, the Royal College of Surgeons and the Health and Safety Executive.

The course covers a set of core units comprising of:

  • Kinematics
  • Catastrophic haemorrhage control including tourniquets and haemostatic dressings
  • Airway management including O.P / N.P airways and Laryngeal Mask Airways
  • Identification and treatment of life threatening injuries
  • Splinting of fractures including traction splints
  • Medical Gasses – Oxygen Therapy
  • C-Spine Immobilisation
  • Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation
  • Medical Emergencies
  • Ballistics
  • Blast Injury
  • Suspension Trauma
  • Crush Injury
  • Paediatrics

On successful completion of the course candidates are issued an IEC Advanced provider certificate valid for 3 years (Defibrillation Qualification requires yearly refreshing).

This course is the highest available qualification for Non Health Care Professional Registered persons within the UK and has been specificly designed to include almost all possible scenarios that a Close Protection Professional may encounter during the execution of their duties. On successful completion of the course graduates can apply for a 5 day hospital placement in an A&E department within the UK, this is only available to graduates who hold a current SIA licence and have passed the IEC course. Acceptance is not guaranteed as approval is left to the Hospital Management Team, SDS Solutions has NO control over graduates acceptance to the placement scheme. There is an additional cost for the Placement scheme and students will be advised of this cost at the time of application. SDS Solutions has no control over the cost of the placement as this is set by the Hospital Primary Health Care Trust.

The IEV Advanced Provider course runs over 4 days and is fully accommodated including meals.
