Within this section you will find detail of the courses we provide for Physical Intervention Techniques, all of our courses have their content legally audited by a high court barrister for the legal standing and application. Also all of our courses are nationally recognised vocational qualifications, which as far as we are aware will be recognised by the SIA as valid qualifications when they introduce their requirements for Physical intervention training training for licence holders later this year early 2010.

 BTEC Level 2 Non-Restrictive Disengagement and Physical Intervention Skills

Edexcel  BTECLevel 2 Award in Non-Restrictive Disengagement and Physical Intervention Skills is a  20 Hour package covering Units 2 & 3 for Security Staff and Door Supervisors.  The course affords all students the opportunity to achieve a Nationally Recognised Level 2 vocationally specific qualification in the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to undertake appropriate and effective disengagement and physical Intervention techniques to an intermediate standard. Focusing on practical and realistic technique application and senario based learning.

  • Law and Risks of Physical Intervention for People Performing Security Functions
  • Understand the law relating to disengagement and physical intervention
  • Understand the risk factors associated with physical intervention and what can increase chances that physical intervention will be necessary.

  • Understand the key principles of disengagement and physical intervention as part of an overall strategy for managing challenging behaviour

BTEC Level 2 Restrictive Disengagement and Physical Intervention Skills

Practical Handcuffing & Defensive Techniques

This course is designed to provide a competent Practical Handcuffing & Defensive Techniques programme for defending against knives and other forms of edged weapons. Student will upon successfull compleation of this course be able to carry and use handcuffs in the execution of their duties, under the legislation layed out under the Health and Safety at Work Act and English Common and Statute Law.

Areas covered within this course include:

  • Basic rights contained in English statute and common law in relation to defenAreas covered in this course include:ding against a knife or other form of edged weapon and the use of handcuffs.
  • The risks posed by edged weapons.
  • Potential risks in the use of Handcuffs
  • Responsibility and accountability under the various Health and Safety regulations in relation to the use of Physical/Mechanical restraints.
  •  Use of appropriate physical skills required for the competent application of physical/Mechanical restraints.
  •  Practical handcuffing in various situational scenarios with increasing levels of pressure to simulate the types of Environmental/Personal pressures found during operational application.
  • Cleaning, Maintaining and disinfecting of handcuffs
  • The types of attacks  with a knife or edged weapons.
  • Practical empty-hand close-quarter defenses skills and advice against such attacks.
